Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ziya Irbec, MHP Antalya Deputy, Executive Board Member of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), made a field visit to Lima, the capital of Peru between 1st and 5th March 2015. The visit brought together a delegation of members of parliaments as part of the Network’s “Parliamentarians in the Field” Program who had the opportunity to discuss development initiatives with The World Bank and The International Monetary Fund.
Since the 2015 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF will take place in Lima in October, 19 delegations of the Parliamentary Network including Prof. Dr. Irbec made a field trip just ahead of the Annual Meetings which will bring together ministers of finance and central bank governors from the institutions’ 188 member countries, and provide a forum for civil society, the private sector, academics and others to engage in discussions on economic issues. Turkey will be represented by senior bureaucrats and experts engaged in economic and financial affairs including the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey responsible for Economic Affairs and the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.
During the World Bank and the IMF Regional Meeting Dr Irbec was selected as reporter of the event where Vice-President of the Parliament of Peru was at present.
Delegations of the Parliamentary Network first met with the President of the Parliament of Peru to exchange of views for the World Bank & IMF Regional Meetings. Then, a meeting was held with the Presidents of the Parliamentary Commissions of Peru. Furthermore, a visit to the highest parts of the world where one of Peru’s most important exports products, the LNG Plant’s facilities which is funded by the World Bank was investigated.
Later, within the program in Lima, the delegation was taken to make some more investigations at a private university which is funded by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
